About the Artist

After having graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a Bachelor’s of fine arts degree in communications design, Rachel has established herself as a premier national canine illustrator over the years. Her unique ability to capture not only the breed, but the heart and soul of a beloved family pet as well sets her apart from other artists. As a dog owner and lover herself, she knows that creating a lasting portrait of a pet is a lifetime gift. Additionally, a 20 year career in the printing industry has provided Rachel with a further edge in the world of art, as her keen eye for color and color combinations allows her to add the perfect shade to her portraits. Rachel has achieved numerous Best of Show honors at various events. Most recently, she earned an award at the famous “Art Show at the Dog Show” in Witchita, Kansas. This premiere event received 422 entries from over 158 artists. Rachel’s artwork, named “Here Spot” was awarded the best depiction of a Dalmatian and was on exhibit during the spring of 2007. Another 2007 honor was to have 8 pieces accepted into the “Canine Treasures” exhibit at the AKC Museum of the Dog in St. Louis, MO. Rachel also uses her passion for the arts to give back to the community by serving as president for the Pennsylvania Artists Professional Association and serving as the 2005-6 chairperson of the “Day of the Arts” at the Juniata Gap elementary school in Altoona.
